What the cluck Piggy Smalls?!

Kawaii Waikiki Hawaii

Whenever the Rat family travels to Aulani, we’d visit Waikiki for a day or two. To be completely honest, I don’t particularly enjoy going to Waikiki. I travel out of Japan to escape from well… Japan. It’s tough to feel like I’ve escaped when I hear Japanese middle aged ladies left and right going “kawaii” at everything they see. Hat… “kawaii”, shoes… “kawaii”, blouse… “kawaii”, pineapple… “kawaii”, fried rice… “kawaii”. Maybe I’m just bitter because my wife uses the exact same word to describe my manhood.

So, whenever Wife-chan tells me that she needs to get some stuff from Waikiki, I go to the bathroom to cry and I search for a restaurant in Waikiki which we’ve never been to before. Once I find a restaurant that peaks my interest, the tears subside and I walk with my head held high to the car and drive the family down to Waikiki. For this trip to Waikiki, we decided to have lunch at Piggy Smalls.

Piggy Smalls is not cheap

In total, we ordered two dishes. We ordered the Smoked Brisket Pho-Strami Banh Mi with Noodles and the LFC Wings. As you can see from the menu above, Piggy Smalls is not cheap and this posed a problem for me because well, I’m a cheap guy. Nothing disappoints me more than expensive food that does not taste good. It pisses me off when everything is well presented in a nice setting and when it’s actually time to enjoy the main attraction… I feel nothing. No thank you! I don’t want to go through the same disappointment as my wife.

Them wings!

In total, we ordered two dishes. We ordered the Smoked Brisket Pho-Strami Banh Mi with noodles and the LFC Wings. This was the first time I’ve actually had banh mi and wow, it was amazing. The smoked brisket in it was brilliant and the bread was toasted perfectly. It was really really good, but the star of the show was the LFC Wings. I still dream about this from time to time. The wings were juicy and my God, the sauce that came with it was heavenly. It was a perfect combination of sweet, sour, spicy, salty. If I had to describe it in one word, it would be “sexy”. The LFC Wings are definitely one of the best wings I’ve ever had in my life! If you are ever in the Ala Moana area, you must go into Piggy Smalls at Ward Village and get yourself three plates of them wings! Don’t share em! Thank me after.
