Nothing beats waking up in Tokyo Disney Resort on your birthday
Both of my kids were born in the month of August, so we decided to celebrate their birthdays on the same day. To celebrate Little Mahina's 4th and Baby Haku's 2nd birthday, Wife-chan and I decided to stay a night in Disney Ambassador Hotel's Minnie Mouse Room. After getting an amazing night's sleep (which was much needed after a drunken day with TDRExplorer), we woke up to the sound of Mickey's voice via a wake-up call, got dressed and headed to the lobby for our complimentary breakfast at Hyperion Lounge.
Boring breakfast done. Time to prepare for DisneySea
Breakfast at Hyperion Lounge was boring. Thankfully, we didn't have to pay for the breakfast. It came with our reservation for the Minnie Mouse Room. All guests staying on the Ambassador Floor of Disney Ambassador Hotel get to "enjoy" this breakfast for free. After breakfast, we went back to the room to open the kids' birthday presents and got ourselves ready for a day of adventure in DisneySea!
Shop first, attractions later
Upon entering the park, we split into groups of two. Mummy and Mahina went shopping for goods while Haku and I walked around aimlessly, fidgeting with items. We usually do our shopping right after entering the park. I hate heading to the stores later in the day because of the crowd. The best time to shop in Tokyo Disney is in the morning or early afternoon. The stores are way less packed and you'll definitely have a more enjoyable shopping experience. Jot that down!
A sleeping child, shopping bags and our first attraction
After about an hour and a half of being apart from team Wife-chan and Little Mahina, we reunited in American Waterfront. Wife-chan had a big smile on her face, a few shopping bags and was pushing a stroller with a knocked out Mahina. Wife-chan was pretty happy with her shopping spree. She got some Tokyo DisneySea 15th anniversary and Duffy products for the store (Links at the bottom of this paragraph). After going through what she bought, we headed to the American Waterfront Station to get on one of Baby Haku's favorite attractions, the DisneySea Electric Railway.
Time to do what rats do best
Upon exiting Port Discovery Station on the DisneySea Electric Railway, I felt my tummy grumble. We walked down to Seaside Snacks to get ourselves some snacks. I've never tried the Ukiwah Bun (Shrimp) prior to this, so I thought I'd give it a shot. As I was in line to get my snack, I heard a little girl shout, "Papa, I want Minnie Ice Bar." Little Mahina had awaken from her slumber. Once Baby Haku heard his sister requesting for something, he had to chip in too. He in turn shouted, "Papa, Haku Mickey Bar Bar." Birthday plus Disney equates to Papa throwing away any parenting rules that he upholds. One Ukiwah Bun (Shrimp), a Mickey Ice Bar and a Minnie Ice Bar coming right up!
First the ice bars and now this?!
After chowing down our snacks, the kids dragged Wife-chan and I too Cape Cod Cook-Off. They wanted to enjoy a showing of My Friend Duffy. If you know me, you know that I could care less about Duffy and his gang, but birthday plus Disney equates to Daddy sacrificing his bigotry against "kawaii" posing bears, just to put smiles on his kids' faces. It wasn't all that bad though. While everyone else was fixated on The Duff, I got to focus all my energy on devouring the 15th Anniversary Set.
The second attraction of the day
By the way, I failed to mention this earlier, it was a super hot day! When it is scorching, this ratty family likes to fully utilize Tokyo DisneySea's transportation system. For our second attraction of the day, we boarded the Transit Steamer Line and made our way to Lost River Delta.
Follow the compass of your heart...
to Sindbad's Storybook Voyage. This attraction is one that my kids love. When we are at home, they always ask for me to play the theme song on my iPhone or to watch the ride-through on YouTube. Sindbad's Storybook Voyage is definitely great fun for the whole family and I don't know why, but this attraction always has a short line. I've been to Tokyo DisneySea a lot of times and have never seen this line grow longer than 15 minutes! Great animatronics, great music and a short line! What's not to like?! After our amazing adventure with Sindbad, we walked to its neighboring attraction to take flight on a carpet.
Time for the kids' favorite snack
Ever since Little Mahina learned to speak, she has never failed to utter the words "Curry Popcorn" whenever we visit Tokyo Disney. Little Mahina can go a day without going on any attractions in Tokyo Disney, but never, I mean never, take away her Curry Popcorn. Cute and sweet Mahina turns into something else. You don't wanna know. Recently, her brother got acquainted with the magic of Curry Popcorn and he too, got hooked. My kids are always willing to share their food with one another, but when it comes to Curry Popcorn, Wife-chan and I like getting them a box each. If you are a parent, you'll probably understand why we do this. With the boxes of popcorn tightly held in their hands, we walked to the exit of DisneySea.
Next stop... Resort Gateway Station
Our adventure in DisneySea had come to an end, but we were not done yet. The Curry Popcorn knocked Baby Haku out, but the rest of us were ready for dinner. On this particular day, dinner was going to be something special. We had one more surprise for the kids.
A special birthday dinner awaits with a special guest
Upon exiting the monorail, we made our way to Empire Grill in Disney Ambassador Hotel. We were ushered to our table and our "My Anniversary Story" dinner course began. Now, all we needed was for Baby Haku to awake from his slumber in time for our meet-up with the special guest.
An end to a magical day
Baby Haku woke up just in time to meet Mickey. We couldn't have asked for a better end to this magical day. Amazing food, brilliant storytelling and the smiles on my kids faces imprinted a memory in me that I will cherish forever. Happy birthday Little Mahina and Baby Haku. Daddy is looking forward to more beautiful memories and I love you both so so much. Much more than your love for Curry Popcorn.
