Beef and Vegetables over Rice

In the last blog post, I wrote about the Seafood and Rice au Gratin in Plaza Restaurant. That was not food. Just plain terrible. It ranks as one of the worst food that I've had in Tokyo Disney. Seriously, don't waste your money on that.

For this Honorable Review, I headed back to Plaza Restaurant to try something else. I refuse to believe that everything served up in this restaurant is terrible. I shall not condemn the whole basket because of one bad apple! For this visit, I got myself the Beef and Vegetables over Rice. It goes for 750 yen. There's no way this can be worse than the Seafood and Rice au Gratin. No way! Nothing can be worse than that... or can it?

Beef and Vegetables over Rice

The Beef and Vegetables over Rice contains rice, sliced beef with onions, pickled cucumber slices and bean sprouts on the side, topped with a Mickey egg. The beef was drenched in a sauce that was sweet. It reminded me a little of the Korean sauce, Gochujang, but I refuse to believe that it was. Why? Because, I like Gochujang sauce. It has a little bit of spice to it and is savory. This sauce, however, was overpowering with sweetness. It had a tad bit of Gochujang flavor, but seemed like it was mixed in with a lot of ketchup. I didn't like it at all. The pickled vegetables added a little saltiness to the mix, which added some much needed flavor to the dish, but it's portion was really small. There was a lot of rice, very little beef and pickles. Most of the time, I was eating plain, white rice.

Overall, it was a disappointment, just like the Seafood and Rice au Gratin. It was a little better because of the different dimensions of flavors it had, albeit unbalanced, it's still better than the one dimensional Seafood and Rice au Gratin. For 750 yen, I would recommend heading elsewhere to eat. Get a Chicken & Roasted Onion Curry with Rice at Hungry Bear Restaurant. It's cheaper and way more fulfilling. It doesn't have the cute little Mickey Egg, but trust me, that does nothing to your taste buds.
