In my last blog post, I briefly talked about how hot it was when I visited Tokyo Disneyland last week. On that day, I was walking around Tokyo Disneyland, doing my normal routine of filming, taking pictures and eating. I ate 3 food items that I will be blogging about next week. This was within a span of 2 hours and I was still hungry! It must have been because I was sweating a lot! It was excruciatingly hot and when I was done with everything that I needed to do, I immediately left Tokyo Disneyland and headed to Ikspiari to cool down in some A/C. I love going to Ikspiari in the middle of the day. It's almost always empty. As I was crawling towards Ikspiari, my stomach began to growl louder. I knew that it was time for me to refuel.
On a hot day, I really enjoy having a cold bowl of Udon and when it comes to Udon, there's no better place to get one in Tokyo Disney than Yotsuba No Kaori Udon. Yotsuba No Kaori Udon is located in Ikspiari Kitchen and it serves up a variety of Udon noodles. When I'm sweating like a pig, I always go for the Oroshi Kijyouyu Udon.
You can also choose some side dishes to go with the bowl of Udon that tickles your fancy. Most of the side dishes are Tempura and that goes really well with Udon. I've tried every side dish they have on offer and they are all good, so listen to your stomach and go crazy with your selection. There's no such thing as a bad pick when it comes to the side dishes at Yotsuba No Kaori Udon.
For this meal, I got myself the Egg Tempura and the Chicken Tempura to accompany my Oroshi Kijyouyu Udon. In total, I paid 750 yen. 480 yen for the bowl of Udon, 160 yen for the Chicken Tempura and 110 yen for the Egg Tempura. A bowl of Oroshi Kijyouyu Udon contains Udon with some soy sauce as it's base, grated radish, grated ginger, slices of leek and a wedge of lemon.
The Oroshi Kijouyu Udon was delicious and it certainly hit the spot. It was salty and citrusy. The ginger added some gingery spice to it and everything came together really well. The best word to use for this bowl of Udon would be refreshing. It certainly cooled this rat down.
The Chicken Tempura was tender on the inside and it's skin was crispy. Just the way Tempura should be and the Egg Tempura was mindblowing. I love Egg Tempura and this store definitely does a great job cooking them up. It was crispy on the outside, much like the Chicken Tempura and when you bite in, yolk starts oozing into your mouth. It's what I'd like to call, sexy food. Brilliant!
After my meal, I was refreshed and crawled over to DisneySea with a big smile on my face. If you are ever in Tokyo Disney and feel like you are melting from Tokyo's unforgiving summer's heat, be sure to get this bowl of Udon. It will definitely pick you right up! Delicious, refreshing and affordable. What more can a Rat ask for?
