Chicken! I love chicken! If I had a choice between all meat types, I would definitely have to go with chicken. This might be because of the fact that I am Singaporean and one of our national dishes is Hainanese Chicken Rice. I used to have Hainanese Chicken Rice two or three times a week. If you ever visit Singapore and can only have one dish, be sure to get yourself a plate of Hainanese Chicken Rice. I guarantee that it will blow your mind! Have you ever tried Hainanese Chicken Rice? If you have, do leave a comment below. I'm curious to know what you think about it.

Smoked Chicken with Mexican Rice & Vegetables

Smoked Chicken with Mexican Rice and Vegetables is a dish that's being served up in Yucatan Base Camp Grill. It costs 830 yen for the plate lunch and 1,240 yen for a set which includes a salad and a drink. I usually go for the plate lunch without the set because I feel that the set is a rip-off. Why do I feel that it's a rip-off? As you can see from the picture above, there's already a healthy portion of vegetables that comes with this dish. No need for that extra teeny weeny bowl of salad that comes with the set! You already have a healthy dose of corn, long beans, potatoes, onions and as a bonus, bacon is included in that side of vegetables. For me, that's enough. Also, I get to save 410 yen, which of course, is something that makes me feel great. I'm cheap like that.

So, how does this dish taste? The Mexican Rice has a woody, smoky flavor which I like. It goes well with the meat and vegetables. The chicken is smoked with it's skin intact, which I like, and it's tender, which I also like. The sauce was a mix of barbecue sauce with ketchup and a little Tabasco sauce. It had that soury tinge with a little bit of Tabasco spice, which I like. As you may have already guessed, I like this dish. I like it, but I don't love it. Here's the deal. It does not leave an impression on me. It wasn't special enough. I felt like the sauce could be whipped up in a minute. Just add ketchup to barbecue sauce and splash a bit of Tabasco sauce into it. To be dead honest, it tasted a little cheap. A little like sauce that you will get out of a microwaveable meal from a convenience store. Also, while I was chewing on the smoked chicken, I was constantly thinking about something else.

Located in Lost River Delta, really close to Yucatan Base Camp Grill, is a stand that sells Spicy Smoked Chicken Leg and it's amazing! I am in love with that juicy, sexy piece of chicken. Love! Not like. Love! Wait, I have an idea! What if you combine another plate lunch from Yucatan Base Camp Grill and the Spicy Smoked Chicken Leg from Lost River Cookhouse? Which dish should you choose from Yucatan Base Camp Grill to create this super Lost River Delta ultimate plate lunch? That's something to ponder about.
