When it comes to food, Tokyo Disneyland pales in comparison with Tokyo DisneySea. It's like Tom Brady going up against Bryan Hoyer. It saddens me to use a quarterback from my beloved Houston Texans in this comparison, but it's the truth. Tom Brady, the man who has 4 Super Bowl rings, the man who took a deflated ball and shoved it up Roger Goodell's behind, the man who is married to one of the most beautiful woman in the world, going up against, well, Bryan Hoyer. I smell a blood bath. Sad, but true. If Tokyo DisneySea was to go up against Tokyo Disneyland in the food department, Tokyo Disneysea would be the favorite by at least a touchdown and a field goal. Since, we're on the subject of the NFL, I'm going to write up a review on Refreshment Corner in Tokyo Disneyland. Right now, you might be scratching your head and asking, "How is the NFL linked to Refreshment Corner?" Well, you see, my stereotypical Asian mind links American Sports to beer and hot dogs. Since Refreshment Corner serves up hot dogs, I decided to go with this introduction. Let the games begin!!!
Refreshment Corner is located in World Bazaar. It's at the end of World Bazaar if you are walking towards the castle from the entrance. I've been to Tokyo Disneyland many times, but I've never stepped foot into Refreshment Corner. I've never really paid any attention to this restaurant. Much like Tom Brady's backup, this place goes unnoticed. At times, I would look at it and think to myself, "Hmmmmm, one day, I'm gonna give this place a go." Then, I would walk away from it and head over to my go to restaurants. This time though, I decided to bench my usual go to restaurants in Tokyo Disneyland and started my day with a hot dog, or two, or three from Refreshment Corner.
Refreshment Corner is one of the cheaper places to dine in, in Tokyo Disneyland. As you can see from the menu above, it's more affordable than a lot of restaurants in Tokyo Disneyland. A set meal for 1000 yen or less is quite hard to find in the parks. By the way, shameless plug. I'm planning to release a kindle book by the end of October 2015 about finding value eats in Tokyo Disneyland. I hope that all you Ratketeers out there will get a copy of that book. It will get me one step closer to buying the Houston Texans in the future and making myself their starting quarterback. Dream big Ratketeers, dream big!!!
Refreshment Corner has only outdoor seating. Try not to visit Refreshment Corner during lunch or dinner. It gets quite packed during those times. Time your meals right and you should be able to find a seat here, easy. On a nice, cool day, it's really nice to grab a hot cocoa, take a seat and enjoy the view of the castle beyond the Partners Statue. Disney Magic at it's best.
I got to try three different types of hot dogs at Refreshment Corner. I got the Hot Dog with Pulled Pork Topping, the Cheese Dog and the Special Hot Dog. My personal favorite is the Hot Dog with Pulled Pork Topping. Salty, a little sour and sweet. You can taste a little bit of Coca Cola in it too. It certainly hit the spot. I will definitely visit Refreshment Corner again in the future for this dog.
I highly recommend visiting Refreshment Corner when you visit Tokyo Disneyland. It's one of the better dining establishments that serves up cheap food. Sorry, let me rephrase that, CHEAPER food. There's no such thing as cheap food in Tokyo Disney. Grab yourself a reasonably priced, by Tokyo Disney standards, set meal and marvel at the castle. You'll walk away with a smile on your face and money left, which will make your smile a little bit bigger. A win-win situation.
Honorable Rating: Mmm, This Is Good (4/5)
