It was a wet and miserable day. It's been raining for the whole day, without the slightest bit of sunshine. Overcast, windy, rainy and cold. Just one of those days whereby one would just want to cuddle up in bed beside the fireplace, but I had a job to do. As Sheriff of this town, it was my duty to make my rounds. This town is my town and I was not going to compromise the safety of my citizens just because of bad weather. They don't call me Sheriff Honorable for nothing.
As I was walking about good ol' Westernland, my stomach began to rumble. The weather was making me hungry. I could have visited my neighboring Fantasyland for some pizza at Captain Hook's Galley, but it was all outdoor seating. For a brief moment, my stomach pointed me towards Grandma Sara's, but my feet were so cold that they refused to walk towards that direction. At that moment of indecisiveness, I saw a little girl walking towards me while waving her hand. I squinted through the fog and rain to get a better look at who this person was. As she walked closer, I realized that it was the Princess Mahina of Fantasyland.
Princess Mahina was heading to the Hungry Bear Restaurant for some curry. She invited me to join her and I politely obliged. It'd be nice to have some company, and curry would definitely warm me up in this weather.
The aroma of curry filled the air as we walked into Hungry Bear Restaurant. It got me even hungrier. Princess Mahina knew what she was going to get, but I couldn't decide. There's that indecisiveness again. Sometimes, I have no idea how I became Sheriff of this town. After going through the menu a couple of times, I decided on the Pork Cutlet Curry with Rice. Princess Mahina got the Little Hungry Bear Curry with Rice.
The cast member at the counter asked me if I wanted to have my curry mild or regular. This was an easy decision to make. No indecisiveness whatsoever. I smiled at her and said, "Regular."
After getting our food, we walked up to a drinking water fountain and got us some water. I might be Sheriff of this town, but I was not going to pay for a drink if they offered free water. The economy of my town has not been doing good recently, so water will suffice. After that, we walked up to an empty table and took a seat.
At this point, my mouth was watering. As soon as we sat down, I started eating. I couldn't help myself. I didn't care if I was in the presence of royalty. I was fully focused on my food. When I was done with my bowl of curry, I looked up and saw that Princess Mahina had already finished hers. Apparently, she didn't care that she was in my presence too. We both looked at each other and laughed at that point.
After our meal, Princess Mahina said goodbye and went back to Fantasyland. Princess Mahina's company definitely made me feel better. Her smile made me forget about the gloomy day. As she walked out of the restaurant, I smiled to myself thinking about how much this girl reminded me of my younger self. Till we meet again Princess Mahina.
Princess Mahina's company definitely brought a smile to my face, but what about the food at Hungry Bear Restaurant? Well, it was nothing to shout about. It was normal. When the cast member asked me if I wanted regular or mild, I thought that there was gonna be some spice in the curry. It was not spicy at all. I wonder what the mild curry would taste like?! Stew?! I'm sorry, I'm part Indian and this is not curry.
For those of you who want curry, I recommend that you head to India or South-East Asia. If you would like to have the Japanese version of "curry", I would recommend that you head to CoCo Curry House. That's my favorite Japanese curry chain here in the land of the rising sun. When it comes to dining in Tokyo Disneyland, there are many other options that will provide better value for money.
