Japanese food in Tokyo Disney?! Why would I want to have Japanese food in Tokyo Disney?! I live in Japan. There has to be better options out there when it comes to Japanese food. It's like going to Thailand and dining in an expensive Thai restaurant. What?! Why?! I should be sampling the street food. Looking for cheap joints to stuff my face in with delicious Tom Yam Goong. Dining in an expensive Japanese restaurant in Tokyo Disney just didn't make any sense to me. I could walk down my street and find much cheaper Japanese food that's amazing.
Enough with what I think about Japanese food being served in Tokyo Disney. This trip to Tokyo Disneyland was one of those days whereby I felt that I had to try something different. Try something new, instead of the same old, same old. I get this feeling once in a while. It's gotten me into a lot of trouble in the past, but I have also learned a lot through this curiosity. I would like to thank my parents, my...... Wait a minute. Wrong script. Sorry about that. Ok, let me find that piece of paper... Alright, back on track.
So, we stood in line for about an hour and finally got a table. I recommend Priority Seating for this restaurant. I would have gotten it, but this was a last minute, follow my gut kinda adventure, so I had to wait for about an hour to get some Japanese food in Japan. What? I sound bitter? No, no, I just enjoy waiting in line when I am hungry.
We all can learn something from this adventure. Those who fail to plan for their Tokyo Disney trip, end up wasting a lot of time. See, I just turned a negative into a positive. Turned a time wasting event in my life into Tokyo Disney travel tip for all of you out there. Be thankful.
Restaurant Hokusai serves up a variety of Japanese food. They have something for everyone here. I was pretty impressed after looking at the menu. Maybe, it's because I was super hungry. When I am hungry, everything looks good to me. They could be serving green tea ice cream in porridge with sardines and I would have gotten excited.
We ordered the Chicken Teriyaki Don and the Tempura Set. The food was well presented andtasted really good. No doubt that this place serves up great Japanese food. The problem that I have with Restaurant Hokusai is value for money. Most of these dishes can be found at a lot of places in Japan at a much lower price. Just head to neighboring Ikspiari. You can definitely find Japanese food there that's just as tasty and cheaper. Ikspiari Kitchen is a good example.
All in all, Restaurant Hokusai serves up great Japanese food. The food is well presented and really tasty. The downside to Restaurant Hokusai is it's price. For me, I feel that it is not worth the money. If your trip to Japan consists of only Tokyo Disney Resort, I would recommend that you try this place out. It will provide you with an authentic Japanese dining experience, but if Tokyo Disney is just a small part of your bigger Japanese adventure, you can definitely find some other places that will provide more bang for your buck. This is Japan. There is good food almost everywhere. Your wallet will thank me for this review. Also, if you decide to dine here, please go with Priority Seating. Don't be an adventurer like me. It will leave you hungry and irate. Don't say I didn't warn you.
Honorable Rating: Mmm, This Is Good (4/5)
