Recently, I decided to review each and every dish in Tokyo Disney Resort. My first dish reviewed was the Steamed Vegetable Curry with Rice from Hungry Bear Restaurant. I know for a fact that I'm not gonna spend my money on that again in the future, unless I'm heading to the Hungry Bear Restaurant with my vegetarian sister. For this review, I'll be revisiting Hungry Bear Restaurant and devouring something a little more down my alley. Something with meat!
Pork Cutlet Curry with Rice is a really popular dish at Hungry Bear Restaurant. This is the go-to dish for many who visit the restaurant. The regular plate goes for 980 yen and the large plate will set you back 1,130 yen. It's 180 yen more expensive than the Steamed Vegetable Curry with Rice, so naturally, this cheap rat had higher expectations.
For a little less than 1,000 yen, you get rice with curry and a pork cutlet. The pork cutlet was juicy and tender. When I bit into it, the skin of the pork cutlet crackled and that made me a very happy rat. The pork cutlet, by itself, was definitely the highlight of this dish.
However, I was a little disappointed with everything else. If you look closely at the picture above, without the complimentary pickles that comes in little packets at Hungry Bear Restaurant, you can see that this meal does not contain any vegetables. Don't get me wrong, I love meat, but it would have been nice if they had some vegetables in the curry. A slice of carrot or two, or some onions would have added more balance to this meal. Also, the curry at Hungry Bear Restaurant is nothing to shout about. It is good, but not great. The addition of vegetables would have definitely added to the flavor of the curry. With 980 yen, you can definitely find food that's more fulfilling in Tokyo Disney. I would not go out of my way for this dish.
